Origin Story
Wakata was born from the frustration of seeing good people slowed down by bad tools.
Our founder, Emmy-Clare, spent over a decade in the industries Wakata serves - gas fields, solar farms, mining, construction. She's filled out the paper forms. She's seen compliance theatre. She's watched good operators get buried in admin designed by people who'd never done the job.
Wakata exists because she got tired of waiting for someone else to fix it.

Why Wakata?
Wakata comes from the Japanese word Wakatta (わかった) - a casual way to say "I see" or "I get it."

We wanted a name that was simple, global, and easy to say - no matter where you're from. Something real, not made-up. And yes, it rhymes with data.
